[RLUG] So... what's up?

Hey,

There haven't been many posts in the last couple of months, so I figured
I'd try starting a thread.

What's everyone up to?

I'm taking two classes, researching robots, and, of course, consulting on
the side. I don't really have any interesting anecdotes to share from any
of these. Well... I did recently decided to change my research track a
bit. I'm now focusing on the design of a partial protocol stack for
mobile wireless networks. I'm using the Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector
routing algorithm to create a multi-hop wireless mesh out of single-hop
ad-hoc wireless networks. I'm then integrating the publish/subscribe
communication paradigm on top of UDP to run on the mesh. The point of
this complicated mess to provide the robots with a more robust
communication medium. With single-hop networks, if a host cannot directly
contact the target host it can no longer communicate. With multi-hop, a
host can route messages through other hosts to the target.

Anyway, that's my "ping".
