Actually, I'm not using either one presently, so just commenting as an 
observer....

IMHO, Mambo has the mind-share because of it's history, but Joomla has 
the developers.

I'm sure there will be people who continue to develop Mambo, but in 
open-source (for me at least) I gravitate heavily to where the 
brain-trust of developers are.
