Might not be the same, but my computer was weird this a.m. and I had to 
reboot, too. I run Kanotix (in this case).

There's a bad worm storm going on in the Windows world right now, 
disrupting a lot of big sites. Probably not related, but some, like 
Washington Post, CNN, NYTimes are doing the upgrade hustle right now.
